The Publishing course, from the Department of Journalism and Publishing (CJE), seeks to train professionals able to work in any of the stages of editorial production, through a theoretical and practical approach to the processes contained in the entire trajectory covered by the book, from author to the reader.

Since its inception, graduation has evolved in line with sociocultural and media transformations, always seeking to update its language and infrastructure based on innovations in the field of editorial and graphic production.

In order to promote a complete humanistic and professional experience, the course brings the dimensions of research about the history of the book (from a focus both on the book as an object, as well as on its literary perspective), combined with spaces for experimentation proposed by example, by Com-Arte and Com-Arte Jr. - respectively, a laboratory-publisher linked to the subjects of Editorial Production I, II and III and a junior company, managed entirely by the students.

Although the focus of the graduation is on the printed book, students also come into contact with the stages of production of electronic books and other multimedia products, dominating editorial processes such as product planning, selection and editing of texts, images and sounds, writing, preparation of originals, graphic production, layout of printed matter, scripting of products in different supports, recordings, montages, dissemination and commercialization of editorial products.
