The Graduate Program in Communication Sciences (PPGCOM) is responsible for training most masters and doctors in Communication in Brazil, promoting new programs in the most different regions of the country. Since its implementation, PPGCOM research has contributed to multiple themes: epistemology of communication, theories of communication, study of telefiction (soap opera, series); educommunication (communication and education); discourse theories; organizational communication; reception and consumption studies; digital journalism; theory of journalism and social dialogue; image and aesthetics (photography); communication and work; censorship and freedom of expression; communication and culture, among other topics. As of 2019, PPGCOM is reorganized into a concentration area: Communication Sciences, with three lines of research: Communication, networks and languages: theoretical and empirical objects; Communication Processes: technologies, production and consumption; and Communication: Interfaces and Institutionalities.
