The Double Degree in Mathematics - Physics is offered by Faculty of Mathematical Sciences and Faculty of Physical Sciences. Mathematics is the basic science par excellence whose knowledge is transmitted from generation to generation. A mathematician is a person with great critical thinking, with the capacity for abstraction and logical reasoning. He must be able to deal with complex problems, both from a theoretical and practical point of view, in addition to modeling possible solutions for said problems. The development of mathematics during the last two centuries has been amazing. This development has led to it becoming a more basic and indispensable tool for the formation and understanding of other Sciences. In addition, from the first steps of Engineering, in any of its modalities, mathematics has been a fundamental basis in its development. Both as a basic scientific discipline and for its applications, Physics is the paradigm of what we now call Science and one of the pillars of technology. Its contributions to knowledge have revolutionized our understanding of reality and have changed the way of life of the human species. Physics is currently in a stage of multidisciplinary expansion. Some of its most active fields of research focus on the nature of the content of the universe and the unification of basic interactions, the study of the first constituents of matter, new applications of quantum mechanics, the fabrication and exploration of materials with properties of industrial or scientific interest, information and communication technologies (photonics, electronics),
