The Master's Degree in Conservation Biology aims to train experts in diagnosing  biodiversity conservation  problems  and how to address their solutions. Biodiversity is considered as the variety of life in all its forms and levels of organization, including the ecological and evolutionary processes that maintain it, so its conservation requires the training of professionals capable of applying transversal approaches. Conservation Biology has been growing as a transdisciplinary response to the planetary crisis of biodiversity, with a clear vocation to integrate very diverse disciplines in the field of biology, to which recent developments in sociology and economics have joined. The Master's Degree in Conservation Biology meets this need for integration thanks to the collaboration of the UCM professors with research linked to the field of conservation, belonging to the areas of knowledge of Botany, Ecology, Genetics and Zoology, now integrated into the Department of Biodiversity, Ecology and Evolution and in the Department of Genetics, Physiology and Microbiology of the Faculty of Biological Sciences; researchers from the Department of Animal Genetic Improvement of INIA (National Institute of Agricultural and Food Research and Technology) complete the cast of professors. Invited researchers and professionals regularly participate to enrich the curricular content.
