The objectives of Master's Degree in Spanish and Ibero-American Thought are as below:

  • Provide students with philosophical knowledge about the philosophical devices from which Spanish and Ibero-American societies have been formed and their relationship with other European, Atlantic and world philosophical fields.
  • Train students to know the true global dimension of Spanish and Ibero-American cultures and their meaning, their ratio and their symbolic order, their style and the philosophical bases of their institutional arrangements, the ways in which they transformed traditional philosophical legacies and generated its own sense of identity.
  • Transmit knowledge of the great mental transformations of these societies, of the decisive stages of their historical experience as reflected in their thinking, their specificity within modern experiences, the sense of globalization that they propose and the way they recognize, deal with or fight with otherness.
  • Get the student to take a critical look at the processes of construction of the Spanish and Ibero-American identity, and allow him to formulate critical questions about its normative basis, its epistemological foundation and its adequate conceptual transmission within the History of Philosophy.
