The Department of Medicine & Therapeutics was formed in 1997 by the merger of the previous Departments of Medicine and Clinical Pharmacology. We offer teaching to medical students for the MBChB programme, provide clinical services and engage in new frontiers of both clinical and basic sciences research.

The Department covers a range of medical specialties including Cardiology, Clinical Pharmacology, Dermatology, Endocrinology and Diabetes, Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Geriatrics, Haematology, Infectious Diseases, Nephrology, Neurology, Respiratory Medicine and Rheumatology. Our partner hospitals for teaching and research include the Prince of Wales Hospital and Shatin Hospital. Clinical academic staff are also affiliated with the School of Biomedical Sciences, Li Ka Shing Institute of Health Sciences, Jockey Club School of Public Health and Primary Care, as well as collaborate closely with the Nethersole School of Nursing and School of Pharmacy. They form a seamless partnership with staff of the Hospital Authority in providing service, teaching and research.

For a Taught Master’s Programme other than the Executive Master of Business Administration (Executive M.B.A.) Programme, the applicant shall have:

  • graduated from a recognized university and obtained a bachelor’s degree, normally with honours not lower than Second Class or achieving an average grade of not lower than “B”; or
  • completed a course of study in a tertiary educational institution and obtained professional or similar qualifications equivalent to a bachelor’s degree.

In addition to the general requirements of the Graduate School, applicants should have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in a health care-related discipline or biomedical sciences from a recognized institution or equivalent.
