The BS in Secondary Math Education prepare students to teach math to students in grades 7 to 12. Math Education majors will acquire knowledge of the fundamental areas of mathematics as well as the fundamentals of teaching. They will spend their last semester teaching at a local high school or middle school under the supervision of an experienced teacher. Upon graduation, students will be eligible for certification to teach in most of the states in USA. BS degree is for students who want a deeper knowledge of mathematics. Typical career paths: A degree in Mathematical Sciences prepares an individual for various technical positions in both government and industry. Career paths open to majors involve work related to computer software, numerical analysis, operations research, actuarial work, economic forecasting, secondary mathematics teaching and graduate study in mathematics-related disciplines.
