The Master’s program in Information Studies at Aalborg University focuses on the design, development, and evaluation of IT systems with a particular emphasis on the relations and interactions between people and IT systems. The degree in Information Studies provides students with skills and competencies sought by the IT industry, and which are applicable wherever people and IT meet and interact. Information Studies is concerned with the design, development, and evaluation of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in any context where people are involved. ICT systems play an increasingly important role in modern society across all technology-driven sectors, such as business, health, entertainment, learning, government, and beyond.  At its core, the teaching in the Information Studies programme focuses on users, information and systems, as is shown in the diagram below. In particular, most of the teaching is built up around one of the three core areas of information behaviour, human-computer interaction, and information systems. Throughout the programme, students will learn about theories and methods from the different research areas displayed in the outer ring, such as information architecture, systems design, user research, and behavioural analysis.

The following AAU bachelor´s degree will grant applicants access to the masters programme in Information Studies:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Communication and Digital Media with specialization in "Informationsvidenskab" (Information Science) from Aalborg University entitles the holder to admission to the Master's programme if the admission takes place directly after the finished bachelor's degree (legal requirements).
