KU-Geology is a leader among geosciences programs, where students learn to serve society through the discovery, dissemination, and application of knowledge. Graduates may go on for further academic training or are employed in the energy and water industries, as well as in government agencies, with high levels of job satisfaction. The Department of Geology awards Ph.D. degrees, which prepares students for a variety of geosciences careers. This degree program, usually completed in five years, requires coursework, publications and a dissertation.
