The Master Quantum Devices is a theoretical and experimental training on several types of quantum phenomena with a particular focus on devices. In this context, fundamental research and applied research have mutually enriched each other: theoretical progress has always been accompanied by parallel progress on the one hand in materials engineering (invention of new materials, control of their development) and on the other hand in investigation techniques (local probe microscopy, electron microscopy, etc.). These advances, crowned by several Nobel Prizes, have significant impacts both in fundamental physics (generation and manipulation of photonic, electronic, magnetic, superconducting states, etc.), and for future applications (devices for quantum information, semiconductor sources and detectors,
The Master is jointly accredited by the University of Paris Diderot and the Ecole Polytechnique and approved by the Ecole Normale Supérieure Paris Saclay. It is also an integral part of the International Master's program 'Nanotechnologies and Quantum Devices' in partnership with the Politecnico of Torino (Italy).


Students benefit from state-of-the-art training in nano-manufacturing and nano-characterization thanks to access to the clean room of the University of Paris Diderot and to a nanoscience platform dedicated to teaching.


In a spirit of maximum openness, the training is based on the scientific excellence of the speakers from the Ile de France laboratories concerned with the physics of quantum devices and offers a large number of outlets both in the academic and industrial environment in a booming field.

The Master Nanotechnologies and Quantum Devices (NanoQuad) is a two-year international program offered by the University of Paris Diderot and the Politecnico of Turin (Italy).


At the end of the two years, the students receive a double diploma: the master's degree in engineering from the Politecnico of Turin 'Nanotechnologies for ICTs' and the master's degree in physics from the University of Paris Diderot 'Quantum Devices'.

Training taught entirely in English (over two years). The first year of the master takes place at the Politecnico of Turin. The second year of the master takes place at the University of Paris Diderot. Students are supported by the International Relations Offices of the two establishments for the organization of their mobility; several Erasmus+ scholarships are reserved for this programme.
