Our Creative Writing and English Literature (including foundation year) BA degree is the perfect preparation for undergraduate study and a career in the creative industries if you don't have the necessary requirements to enter the three-year degree.

We are in the School of Art, Architecture and Design so our Foundation level is distinctive. You will learn about and practise different genres of creative writing but also investigate the creative process in different fields. You will collaborate with students in other disciplines and explore the practical skills involved in putting creative work into the world. Find out more about our distinctive combination of modules below.

Students are encouraged and supported to participate in cultural and professional engagement throughout the year at the School of Art, Architecture and Design including organised open lectures, exhibitions, competitions and wider public events.

During this four-year course, you'll be immersed in the creative techniques and analytical skills used by writers, academics and publishers. On completion of the course, you'll graduate with the same title and qualification as students who started on the three-year course.
