Objective The Bachelor’s degree in Dentistry aims at the training of professionals capable of preventing, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate the stomatognathic system, preserve dental health by providing collective and individual welfare, and establishing the necessary preventive measures in their social environment to control the development of oral diseases within the strictest discipline and professional ethics.
Dentistry graduates will be capable of:
  • Promoting, preventing, keeping, diagnosing, rehabilitating and entirely controlling the health-illness process of the stomatognathic system and providing their community with timely and efficient attention by implementing programmes based on the identification and control of the epidemiologic factors which cause illnesses
  • Applying the necessary therapeutic measures (restorative and surgical) to solve the different diseases related to the oral cavity
  • Applying primary preventive measures, individually and in teams, promoting health and specific protection against the most frequent dental diseases in the country
  • Showing a strong sense of responsibility, honesty and humanitarian concern about society which demands their services, and fulfilling the professional quality standards established by the national regulations determined by their professional counterparts in their country
  • Taking active part in the independent labour field, as well as in institutional fields both public and private
  • Being an active professional capable of evaluating and modifying their everyday activities, in order to develop concrete actions and share their experience in furtherance of the enrichment of dental knowledge
  • Being committed to environment protection by applying pollution control methods created during their professional daily activity
  • Analysing the stomatognathic system health-illness process in the different population groups in their society, with the aim of interpreting it as a multifactorial problem which requires multi-professional and interdisciplinary participation to solve and continuously improve population life quality
  • Applying experimental, clinical, statistical, epidemiological and administrative methods in both individual and community diagnosis, as well as in treatment and operational attention based on the principle of integral prevention
  • Applying the principles of de-monopolization, transference, multidiscipline, integral attention, simplification, and the use of the appropriate technology for the prevention, specific protection, treatment and rehabilitation of the stomatognathic system
  • Making the integral diagnosis of individual and community health problems from a biopsychosocial point of view
  • Implementing the pertinent Dentistry methods, techniques and procedures to positively contribute to the solution of health-illness process problems of the population without any detriment to environment
  • Designing and carrying out preventive, curative and restorative treatment plans by applying their theoretical-practical knowledge in their routine clinical practice
  • Showing the necessary theoretical basic knowledge to choose the appropriate technology in order to lower costs without detriment to quality
  • Establishing the necessary strategies in compliance with domestic and international recommendations for the prevention and control of dental cross infections
  • Applying the different existing techniques for the prevention, management and treatment of medical and stomatological emergencies
  • Applying suitable didactic techniques to promote health of the population, as well as participating in the training of health promoters belonging to the target population so that they can cause a positive influence on them
  • Analysing the diverse existing service models within the legal and regulatory framework of their professional practice in both institutional and private sectors which are currently being promoted for the purpose of giving a response to health problems and so that they can be variable alternatives in the present labour market
