The course is designed to harness a practice readiness approach, where the opportunity to potentially secure professional placements in a children and young people’s setting provides the opportunity to enhance your ability to secure work after successfully graduating. This course provides access to a course team who currently have first-hand practice experience in various settings, including sociology, psychology, education, social work, careers guidance, youth and community work, in addition to being actively engaged in research and writing in these areas. There is an opportunity to apply for a sandwich year to study or work in the UK or abroad. Former students have undertaken a year-long sandwich year placement (between second and third years of study) within areas such as Great Ormond St Hospital (Play Therapy), Primary School TA (SEN), disability support, and formal and informal educational settings.
