Doctoral candidates work alongside a lengthy list of distinguished faculty — experts in water treatment, arsenic and heavy metals, environmental remediation, physicochemical processes and more. Stevens, doctoral candidates focus on a research area of their choosing with guidance from a faculty member working in a similar concentration. In the environmental engineering doctoral program, faculty is currently researching. Internationally recognized for its innovative promotion of environmental science, technology and management, the Center for Environmental Systems (CES) provides state-of-the-art research laboratories and testing facilities to industry, government and environmental service organizations, and doctoral candidates. Researchers of all kinds have access to multimedia capabilities for studying wastewater, liquid waste, solid waste and air, as well as fully automated instrumentation for the analysis of organics, inorganics and metals. The CES is an amazing asset to the doctoral program, with 25 staff members that carry a broad range of expertise from modeling and remote sensing to bioremediation and life cycle assessment allowing a unique opportunity for collaborative and cross-discipline experiences.
