Marketing allows you to flex both analytical and creative muscles. Major in marketing to gain the tools you need to research, analyze and develop advertising for targeted markets based on data. Every industry needs marketing, so there’s never a dull moment. Whether you have a knack for data analysis or a passion for content creation — or both — a successful career in marketing is calling.

The Daniels School marketing program is designed to give students a broad understanding of the field, and the opportunity to dive deep into specific areas of interest. Challenging coursework and experiential learning projects provide our marketing students with the reliable toolkit they’ll need to thrive in the workforce. Some highlights of the marketing curriculum include:

Experiential Marketing

  • Apply market strategies to real-world marketing challenges
  • Work for clients including entrepreneurs working with Purdue’s Foundry and Discovery Park, Purdue Research Park startups, small and medium-size Indiana businesses, and nonprofit organizations
  • Projects are varied and may involve marketing plan development for a startup, market research, analysis of marketing data, digital marketing, search engine marketing, web design, and social entrepreneurship

Digital Marketing Strategy

  • Develop capabilities in designing, implementing, and evaluating digital marketing strategies
  • Cover online advertising, search engine optimization, participation in social media, online listening and monitoring, online display advertising, and web and social media analytics
  • Participate in an online marketing project with money supplied by the program to promote a chosen business organization via online or social media platform

Marketing Research

  • Learn to plan and execute market research studies that are used for crafting marketing strategies
  • Conduct studies and analyze them to obtain information about consumer behavior
  • Familiarize yourself with techniques in research design, data collection, and analysis of results from studies

We treat marketing as both an art and a science. Put both mindsets to work when you tackle real-world projects as part of a class and outside the classroom. Daniels School students join — and often lead — the Purdue Marketing Association. This undergraduate student organization open to all majors gives developing marketing professionals experience working on projects for real-world clients.
