Designed to prepare professional counselors in a competency-based graduate program for broadly defined practice in community family and work settings, the counseling and human services program provides students with an understanding of the counselor’s role in contemporary American society, as well as the fundamental counseling and intervention skills needed for community, work, and family settings.
The 20-course program is developmental/contextual in nature and presumes that counselors must work in an increasingly diverse cultural and economic environment. Human services counselors must understand and be prepared to adapt to changing societal conditions and the demands placed upon individuals and families in home, work, educational, and healthcare settings.
