The Master of Science in Sustainable Management and Technology program is offered by Enterprise for Society (E4S) on behalf of its three partner institutions: the University of Lausanne (UNIL), the Institute for Management Development (IMD), and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL).

The program will equip the next generation of entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs with the knowledge and skills necessary to co-create a more resilient, environmentally responsible and inclusive economy. Participants in the program will learn how to lead teams across multiple disciplines and solve complex problems in corporations, start-ups and NGOs. Graduates will be ready to integrate sustainability in the core of their activity – whether in the corporate or entrepreneurship arena – and conduct business in service of their organizations, the environment and society in general.

The program aims at building competences along three dimensions: technology and innovation, economics and management, and sustainability. In comparison with existing programs organized around management, technology, and/or sustainability around the world, the SMT Master’s program is unique in focusing on all three dimensions simultaneously and in a balanced manner.

While it builds on theory and real-life applications, the program is committed to enhance personal and social skills by encouraging interdisciplinary team work on practical projects and by systematically mixing students of different profiles. The formal course work and team projects will be completed and enriched by lectures and workshops with experts from industry.

Courses are taught by professors on the campuses of UNIL, IMD and EPFL, thus bringing together the expertise of three internationally renowned academic institutions.
