The MA in Translation Studies gives you a deep understanding of the meaning and usefulness of translation in a context of globalization and cultural diversity. You will translate from French to English or from English to French. Two master's options are available to you: without thesis (professional), focused on acquiring the know-how required to become a recognized translator in Canada's two official languages, or with thesis (research), which will take the form of a work of theoretical or historical reflection on a corpus of translations or a literary translation, accompanied by an important critical apparatus. Thanks to the Department's privileged links with the world of professional translation, you will have the opportunity to do a training course during your studies. You will benefit from a stimulating intellectual environment: small groups and teachers committed to your success. Montreal, one of the largest French-speaking cities after Paris, offers an incredibly stimulating environment for studies in translation.
