Graduates in Orthopaedics Techniques are healthcare professionals who, on the basis of medical prescription and subsequent testing, deal with the construction and/or adaptation, application and supply of functional or aesthetic prostheses, orthotics and substitutive, corrective and support aids connected with the locomotor system.

These can be of a mechanical nature or use either external energy or a mixture of energy from the body and external sources, and are produced by taking direct measurements and models on the patient.

Within their sphere of competence, graduates are qualified to train disabled persons in the use of these orthotics and prostheses. In collaboration with a doctor, they provide technical assistance in relation to the supply, substitution and repair of orthotics and prostheses, work with other professional figures to provide the multidisciplinary care set out in the rehabilitation plan, and take responsibility for the organisation, planning and quality standards of professional services within their area of duty.
